Commercial Manager – Renewable energy

Salary Range: £80,000-£110,000 per annum + a bonus of up to 30%, a company share scheme + core benefits.

Our client is a forward-thinking organisation working within the renewable energy sector, who are seeking a Commercial Manager to oversee two pivotal projects: a Battery storage extension project alongside the procurement for a gas peaking project based in the Southeast. Our client is at the early stage of major planned growth, so this is a fantastic time to join the business to become a senior leader.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Issue packages of work to the supply chain under an NEC4 contract, ensuring scope is sufficiently detailed, risks understood, assessed, and timelines are documented.
  • Lead commercial, cost, and project reviews for contracts and suppliers. Update cost and commercial reporting for incurred and forecast costs against budgets, with variance analysis.
  • Conduct regular commercial reviews of both internal and external supplier costs.
  • Manage a team of quantity surveyors.
  • Manage change control, risks, and budgets through the quantity surveying team.
  • Lead and manage final account settlements of all projects, including proactively managing commercial disputes and claims

Experience Required:

  • Proven experience in a commercial management role on major UK projects, including expertise working for a tier 1 or tier 2 contractor.
  • Demonstrable experience in leading and managing commercial teams within sectors such as renewable energy, oil & gas, or major infrastructure (heavy civils and/or mechanical & electrical). Any experience with battery power/thermal power would be advantageous.
  • Strong experience in change management and resolution of contract disputes.
  • Expertise in implementing and maintaining contract administration processes and reporting systems that align with programme/project management teams.
  • Strong experience working on construction projects under the NEC suite of contracts.
  • Membership of the RICS or a similar recognised body.
