Recruitment is far more than matching a CV to a job description.
At Infraspec, we understand the importance of genuinely understanding the roles we recruit for and the industries in which our clients and candidates operate.
Why?
Because it enables us to ask better questions, conduct more effective interviews and ultimately place the right people into the right roles.
How?
Our recruitment team undertakes APM-accredited training covering Construction Planning, Project Controls and Risk Management methodologies and processes. Combined with years of specialist recruitment experience, this gives us a deeper understanding of the disciplines, skillsets and challenges faced by the professionals we recruit.
Since founding Infraspec in 2017, our founders, Conor and Richard, have accumulated more than 25 years of combined recruitment experience within the Planning, Project Controls and Commercial Management sectors.
However, the industry has evolved significantly.
The increasing use of data analytics, AI, digital reporting and sophisticated project controls technologies means today’s Planning and Project Controls professionals are operating in an increasingly complex and data-driven environment.
We believe it is important that our team continues to develop its knowledge and understanding of these changes. By staying close to industry developments, we can have more informed conversations with both candidates and clients, providing the specialist insight our market expects.
If we’re going to represent Planning and Project Controls professionals, we need to understand what they do across different organisations, projects and programmes, and at every stage of the project lifecycle.
Our team has developed a deeper understanding of areas including:
🔹 Construction Programming
🔹 Critical Path & Programme Logic
🔹 WBS, Activity Coding & Dependencies
🔹 Float & Constraints
🔹 Resource & Cost Loading
🔹 NEC3 & NEC4 Planning Requirements
🔹 Progress Reporting & Project Controls
🔹 Earned Value Management (EVM)
🔹 Cost Engineering
🔹 Risk Management, QRA & QSRA
🔹 Primavera P6 and other Project Controls systems
We also prepare our candidates for interview.
Before an interview, we take the time to understand both their experience and the specific requirements of the role.
We discuss the projects they’ve worked on, their responsibilities, the challenges they’ve faced and, importantly, how they can clearly articulate their contribution to a project.
We provide detailed interview preparation covering both the technical and practical areas they may be asked about.
Because there’s a significant difference between:
“I’ve used Primavera P6.”
and
“I developed, maintained and updated a £500m NEC project programme, managing interfaces across multiple work packages, analysing critical path activities, assessing delay impacts, producing well-written supporting narratives and reporting progress, risks and forecast completion dates to senior stakeholders.”
That’s the difference between understanding a software package and understanding the role.
We want our candidates to be able to explain ‘the what’, ‘how’ and ‘why’ behind their experience.
Our recruiters don’t need to be Planners or Project Controls professionals themselves.
But they do need to understand the profession well enough to have an informed conversation with one.
That’s the standard we’ve set at Infraspec.
If you’re a Planning or Project Controls professional considering your next move, what do you expect from a specialist recruitment partner?
As specialist recruiters in Construction Planning, Project Controls, Risk Management and Commercial Management, we believe market knowledge is essential to delivering the best results for both clients and candidates.
